Online Chinese Herbal Medicine + Dietary Therapy Sessions

Online sessions are one-on-one consultations that are tailored to your specific health needs. Together we will make a plan that enables you to strategically work with herbal formulas and foods that support your individual constitution. Through a series of regular follow-up sessions, you will learn how to incorporate Chinese medicine into your everyday life so that you can make lasting changes and go forward with confidence.

Chinese medicine identifies imbalances in your health and addresses these disharmonies through focused strategies that help your body move toward balance. Using a collection of tools from Chinese medicine, including tongue analysis, I will assess your health and design a protocol for you that addresses your current health challenges. I work with Chinese and western herbs, along with Chinese medicine dietary therapy, which emphasizes a broad diet rich in cooked whole foods.

Telehealth Appointments

Consultation sessions are conducted via video calls. Once we schedule an initial intake session, I’ll send over a short questionnaire and a consent form for you to complete before our session.

Initial In-Depth Intake + First Follow-Up Session | $165

Our first session is a 1-hour intake where we talk about your physical symptoms, emotional state, experience in your body, and hopes for your health. I will get to know you and your story as l assess imbalances in your health. After the intake session, I will spend time with your case, engaging in any additional external research necessary to design the most effective protocol for you, which I will send to you within 1 week of our session.

Your protocol will include personalized herbal and dietary recommendations, along with a short explanation of the Chinese medicine theory that informs your recommendations. I will also include easy-to-follow instructions for how to source and prepare the herbs and foods. We will then meet again for a 30-minute follow-up session after you have had a chance to work with your protocol for 2-4 weeks. The first follow-up is included in the intake session fee.

Follow-Up Sessions | $85 - 1 Hour

After your intake session and first follow-up, we will continue to meet every 2-4 weeks for 1-hour sessions to monitor changes in your health, tune or amend your herbal formulas, and ensure that you are experiencing improvements in your health as you progress with your protocol. We may also go over certain food preparation and cooking techniques, along with other lifestyle practices that can support you.

These follow-up appointments are incredibly important, as they allow us to be in regular communication about your health and also function as educational sessions so that you can learn to incorporate Chinese medicine into your life with confidence.

Custom Herbal Medicines - Shipped To You

Herbal formulas are prepared by high-quality, ethical, and reliable herbal pharmacies and are shipped to you. The herbal preparations I most commonly work with are decoction granules or powders that you stir into hot water and drink and raw herbs that are steeped in hot water to make teas and decoctions. I occasionally work with tea pills and tinctures.

I do not personally sell herbal remedies to clients at this time. I design and select herbal formulations for clients and send these herbal orders to reputable herbal pharmacies/distributors, which compound and send herbs to clients. I commonly source herbs and formulas from Kamwo, TCM Zone, Five Flavors Herbs, and Mayway. These companies are respected in the field and follow the current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) regulations outlined by the FDA to ensure quality, safety, and transparency.

Herbs are priced separately from the consultation. The price of herbs varies for each person, though most month-long herbal medicine quantities range from $50 - $80.

FAQs

  • I welcome and work with people from all walks of life throughout the US (please inquire if you are located outside of the US so that we can talk about our time difference and options for herbs). My practice places specialized attention on emotional health, digestive health, and the relationship between the two, as well as women’s health, especially in regard to regulating menstrual cycles. Please schedule a free Compatibility Chat if you are unsure about how herbs can support you, if my practice is a good match for you, or if you are outside of the US and want more information about how we can work together. I am happy to talk with you or help you find a practitioner who is more specialized for your specific needs.

  • Herbal medicine is not regulated or licensed in the United States at this time. The American Herbalists Guild is a professional organization in the United States that enables herbalists to earn the designation of Registered Herbalist (RH), a rigorous peer-reviewed process that includes extensive education and at least 400 hours of mentored clinical experience, or Associate Herbalist, which indicates a significant contribution of time and energy toward a career working with medicinal plants.

Herbal products are categorized as dietary supplements in the United States. These products are regulated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which can enforce programs and rules to protect people from false claims about the safety and benefits of products marketed as dietary supplements. The FDA has the legal power to ensure that all manufacturers of herbal supplements follow current good manufacturing processes (cGMPs), which include accurate labeling practices in regard to ingredients and claims of benefits.

In my practice, I only work with herbal formularies and distributors that are cGMP approved and that engage in ethical, high-quality harvesting and manufacturing processes.

  • Given the personalized nature offered through my practice, the trajectory of each individual case will be different. You may experience improvements in your health within your initial days or weeks of working with your personal recommendations. In general, I recommend 3 months of continued care after our initial intake session, with follow-up sessions every 2-4 weeks, to ensure that changes in your health become long-lasting.

  • I am not a licensed physician and therefore I cannot legally or safely take you off a prescription pharmaceutical medicine. I do not advise on the use or discontinuance of pharmaceuticals. The intention for our work together is to help you learn about herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle practices that can holistically support your health. It is important that you continue to seek the advice and guidance of your physician in regard to your prescription medications. With your consent, I am happy to be in communication with or work alongside other practitioners and care providers in your life.

  • No, health insurance carriers do not cover herbal medicine at this time. I am open to discussing payment plan options if segmented payments would make my services more accessible to you. Please schedule a free Compatibility Chat session to discuss this option.
